If sliding doors are not sliding properly, it can be frustrating. Here is a list of problems you may encounter.

1) Slider won't close all the way or at all! This is most commonly caused by being off track. A quick solution before calling the sliding door company for help would be to reposition the sliding glass tracks so that they are straight and level. If this does not work after making sure track spacing is even, then adjusting screws on top of sliding track or bottom-mounted rollers will adjust sliders for smoother sliding action. Tighten screws if sliders do not stay open easily and loosen them if sliders rub hard against frame. For sliding glass doors that won't close use a sliding door closer to quickly and easily fix the problem.

2) Slider won't open or is too hard to open!  A sliding glass door may not be sliding smoothly because it has been installed off level, on an angle, or sloped downwards away from the sliding track. If this is what you have then adjust screws on top of sliding track or bottom-mounted rollers until sliders move smoothly up and down with easy closing action. A broken roller assembly inside a sliding door can also cause the sliding glass door to malfunction by allowing sliders to get stuck outside their tracks as they slide back and forth on top of each other. can tell if your roller assemblies are broken by listening to sliders moving up and down. If sliders are sliding back and forth on top of each other, you have a broken roller assembly.

3) Slider won't open or close all the way! This can be caused by an obstruction affecting sliding glass door tracks. A sliding glass door may not be sliding smoothly because it has been installed off level, on an angle, or sloped downwards away from the sliding track.

4) Glass does not stay on sliding glass door track. This can be caused by a sliding glass door that is poorly attached to its sliding track.

5) Glass sliding door panel(s) are hard or impossible to slide open or closed. This can be caused by sliders being obstructive, not properly aligned with the sliding glass door tracks or sliding glass door tracks that are off level.
